Our story

Simple Outdoor Trips began with a calendar observation: the ambitious outdoor plans — the mountain weekend, the camping trip, the sunrise hike — kept sliding to "next month", while the family that simply walked to the park every Saturday actually spent the year outside. The gap wasn’t desire or gear. It was that nobody writes guides for the easy days, so the easy days never feel like a plan — and what isn’t a plan gets swallowed by the couch.

This site writes those guides. Seven day plans cover the outings that fit between a real week and a real budget: the park picnic, the beach or lake day, the city wander, the outing with a toddler in tow. No trailheads, no equipment lists that need a shop visit, no drive longer than the outing itself.

What we believe

The bar should be low. A good outing needs a bag, a snack and a decision — everything else is optional. Our plans are engineered to be sayable in one sentence and packable in twenty minutes, because friction is what cancels days outside, not weather.

Slow counts double. These are not efficiency guides. The whole point of the day out is the unhurried middle of it — the long lunch on the blanket, the second lap around the lake, the bakery detour. Our plans protect that middle instead of scheduling over it.

Close is the secret. The park twenty minutes away, visited monthly, beats the famous spot two hours away, visited never. We’re unapologetically on the side of the nearby.

How the plans are made

Each plan is distilled from outings actually taken — with kids, with rain interruptions, with the forgotten corkscrew — and revised with a visible date. We describe types of places and universal logistics rather than specific destinations, because our readers picnic on three continents and the shade-first method works on all of them.

Three languages

The plans are published in English, Portuguese and Spanish — each version written for its own readers, with the food, the park culture and the seasons of its own places in mind.
